Progeny was assessed long term in rainbow trout and a maternal high carbohydrate-low protein diet. Female male and female rainbow trout were fed either a control diet or a high carbohydrate/low protein diet for an entire reproductive cycle for females and for males for five months. For an entire reproductive cycle for females and for five months for males, two-year-old male and female rainbow trout were fed either a control diet or a high carbohydrate/low protein diet for a complete reproductive cycle for females and five months for males. During the spawning period, spawns from NC and HC/LP females were cross-fertilized with milts from males of each experimental species. Fish were introduced ad libitum on a commercial diet since their first feeding.
