Development of a useful single-reference HPLC method for therapeutic drug monitoring of phenytoin and carbamazepine in human plasma.

A single reference high-performance liquid chromatographic device was designed and validated for use in patient serum drug testing of phenytoin and carbamazepine. At 254 nm, the tested method showed good linearity, with PHT and 0. 40 g/mL for CBZ. The established differential definite amounts of PHT and CBZ in plasma samples were similar using both RMS and absolute calibration methods based on RSD 5. 1 percent. Maternal exposure to environmental levels of carbamazepine induces mild growth retardation in mouse embryos

CBZ is found in agricultural land, produce, and even humans consuming crops in water-scarce areas that heavily rely on treated wastewater for crop irrigation. Although the CBZ's environmental parameters are very low, it is nonetheless possible to find out the risks associated with unintentional exposure to CBZ. This leads to the skepticism that environmental exposure to CBZ may also influence embryogenesis. Here, we used the mouse model to see whether maternal exposure to CBZ in environmental-relevant doses will influence embryonic growth. This report is the first study to show the effect of environmental exposure of CBZ on the developmental kinetics of maternally-exposed mammalian embryos. Although the developmental delay was brief, the consistency of a large number of biological replicates, as well as the clear implication of developmental delay on post-natal health, has called for further in-depth risk assessments to reveal the effects of pharmaceuticals released to the environment on public health.

Repurposing Carbamazepine To Treat Gonococcal Infection in Women: Oral Delivery for Control of Epilepsy Generates Therapeutically Effective Levels in Vaginal Secretions.

Primary human cervical cells can be completely clear without an established N. gonorrhoeae infection. Using a competitive ELISA, we found Cz in lower reproductive tract mucosal secretions in the test group at potentially therapeutic levels. In addition, we found that Cz concentrations in vaginal fluid from women taking this drug were sufficient to result in a decrease in the number of viable gonococci recovered from ex vivo, human, primary cervical cell infections.

Photocatalysis of carbamazepine via activating bisulfite by ultraviolet: Performance, transformation mechanism, and residual toxicity assessment of intermediates products.

In this research, the degradation of CBZ by UV driven bisulfite treatment was investigated. Following a pseudo first-order kinetic model, CBZ was degraded by UV/bisulfite, according to the kinetics results. The reactive oxidants were identified by EPR test and the radicals scavenging experiment using MeOH and TBA, resulting in both u2022- and u2022OH. As to influence factors, CBZ degradation was severely hampered in the presence of CO 3 2-, HPO 4 2-, and NOM.

Characterizing Complex and Competing Drug-Drug Interactions Between the Antiviral Regimen of Glecaprevir and Pibrentasvir with Rifampin or Carbamazepine.

After single and multiple daily doses of rifampin 600 mg, or 24 hours after the last rifampin dose, GLE 300 mg + PIB 120 mg was administered as a single dose, or in a single dose as a single dose. In study 2, GLE 300 mg + PIB 120 mg was administered as a single dose, alone or in combination with multiple doses of carbamazepine 200 mg. GLE was significantly increased by the first coadministered rifampin dose due to CYP3A/P-gp induction, and marginally increased when coadministered with steady-state rifampin due to a mixture of inhibition and induction factors, largely increasing by the fourth rifampin dose due to a combination of inhibition and induction factors. Exposure of PIB was not affected when coadministered with the first rifampin dose, but it was significantly reduced with steady-state rifampin coadministration, or 24 hours after the last rifampin dose due to P-gp induction.

A Rapid Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Strategy of Carbamazepine in Serum by Using Coffee-Ring Effect Assisted Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

This research aims to develop a method for CBZ detection in serum using coffee-ring effect improved surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy. As the SERS-active material, Silver nanoparticles deposited onto silicon wafers were used. To eliminate the influence of impurities on the silicon wafer surface and the protein matrix, surface treatment optimization of the silicon wafers and the liquid extraction process was carried out. The proposed detection system allows for the rapid determination of CBZ in artificially spiked serum samples within a concentration range of 2. 5 to u201340 u00b9mLu22121, which corresponds to the range of the drug concentrations in the serum following oral therapy.

Ozonation of carbamazepine in the presence of sulfur-dopped graphene: Effect of process parameters and formation of main transformation products.

The ozonation process has been shown to be a critical part of the graphene structure. Using carbamazepine as a probe compound, the effect of S u23af Gr in the ozonation process was investigated. Although in comparison to single O 3, u223c1. 5, and 2. 5 times decrease in the development of the two most common intermediate transformation products, i. e. , BQM, and BQD, a complete CBZ removal was achieved at a 0. 08 mM increase. S u23af Gr's presence during the synthesis of HO was positively related to S-bearing carbon atoms at the edge of the graphene structure, according to the XPS results. The microwave plasma synthesized S u23af Gr catalyst remained stable during ozonation, with a low sulfur content of 1%, indicating its use in practical usage.
