Awake craniotomy for brain tumor resection: Patient experience and acceptance in an Asian population.

"Introduction Awake Craniotomy is well-known for brain tumor removal in the eloquent zones. " This paper aims to investigate the experiences of patients from an Asian population who underwent awake craniotomy for tumor resection. Methods of collecting Patient Experience Data Patient experience was collected by interviewing patients using a structured questionnaire at a follow-up visit. From medical records, information on patient demographics and diagnosis were obtained. Eighteen patients who underwent 20 awake craniotomies were recruited. Ninety-five percent of families surveyed their family to be in favour of awake craniotomy. Most patients did not experience pain/discomfort or fear during an intraoperative procedure. Nearly all found intraoperative motor and word testing to be straightforward. Eighty percent of patients were able to have awakened craniotomy again if indicated. Conclusion In an Asian population, awake craniotomy is well tolerated. All patients had a positive to excellent overall experience, with the majority of people willing to undergo awake craniotomy again. ".

MRI-based Whole-Tumor Radiomics to Classify the Types of Pediatric Posterior Fossa Brain Tumor.

"Background Differential diagnosis between medulloblastoma, ependymoma, and astrocytoma is relevant due to differing medical treatment protocols and projected survival. Using a random forest classifier, the aim of this study was to investigate non-invasive MRI-based radiomic analysis of whole tumors in order to determine the histological tumor types of pediatric posterior fossa brain tumors and improve discrimination accuracy. ADC sequence resulted in the top ten contributions according to the wavelet identifier. The random forest classifier conducted 100% accuracy on the training samples and established the highest reliability, 0. 952, 0. 926, and 1. 000 for EP, MB, and PA, respectively, with a 0. 952, 0. 946, and 1. 000 for EP, MB, and PA. " OBJECTIVE: To determine delayed diagnosis based on the prediagnostic symptomatic interval among Filipino pediatric brain tumor patients and determine causal causes, see supporting factors. METHODS: The data was collected retrospectively on pediatric brain tumor patients of Philippine General Hospital from 2015 to 2019. The median time from symptom onset to first physician consultation was 22 days. Prior to brain tumor diagnosis, the majority of people were diagnosed with another disorder. Popular fossa tumors, malignant tumors, and vomiting are among the causes of early brain tumor diagnosis. CONCLUSION: Delayed diagnosis among Filipino brain tumor patients is correlated with age, tumor types, and signs that are not unusual in this condition. This underscores the need for first contact physicians to be aware of these signs and maintain a diagnosis of brain tumor as a distinct. ".
