Mid-Wave Infrared Photoconductors Based on Black Phosphorus-Arsenic Alloys

"Black phosphorus and more recently black phosphorus-arsenic alloys are potential 2D materials for the detection of mid-wave and possibly long-wave infrared radiation. " We conduct a systematic examination of gated-photoconductors based on b-PAs alloys in this series as a function of thickness within the composition range of 0-91% As. We found that the cutoff wavelength can be adjusted from 3. 9 to 4. 6 bcm over the tested compositional range, with spectrally resolved photoresponse for various compositions in this material system. Pure b-P and b-PAs rises at 10 Hz 1/2 W -1 and 2. 4 x 1010 cm Hz -1, respectively, at room temperature, which is an order of magnitude higher than commercially available mid-wave infrared detectors operating at room temperature.

Determinants of the use of alternatives to arsenic-contaminated shallow groundwater: an exploratory study in rural West Bengal, India

"Chrisl's rural West Bengal, India, shallow groundwater with high amounts of arsenic is the primary source of drinking water for millions of people. " Purchased water was rarely exclusive and was strongly associated with socioeconomic status, suggesting that this type of market-based water provision does not guarantee universal access. As free piped water became available at public taps, demand for purchased water seemed to decline drastically soon after. Our findings also show that arsenic mitigation strategies that also address co-occurring water issues could be more beneficial than focusing on arsenic alone.
