" Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from 414 drug-resistant clinical Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates were sequenced and transcribed in this study. Gene expression data improved diagnostic results for all drugs except for ciprofloxacin. Lastly, the introduction of a molecular susceptibility testing system in routine microbiology diagnostics may provide earlier and more detailed data on antibiotic resistance profiles of bacterial pathogens, which may eventually change how physicians diagnose bacterial infections.

Detection of antimicrobial resistance genes associated with the International Space Station environmental surfaces

"Antimicrobial resistance is a global health issue. " 9 biosafety level 2 organisms isolated from the ISS were tested for antibiotic resistance using whole genome sequencing and disc diffusion antibiotic resistance assays. AMR genes from 24 surface samples collected from the ISS during three separate sampling events over a year were analyzed with Ion AmpliSeq(u2122 and metagenomics. Disc diffusion assays revealed that Enterobacter bugandensis strains were resistant to all nine antibiotics tested, with Staphylococcus haemolyticus being resistant to none. ".

Antimicrobial resistance prediction in PATRIC and RAST

"We've been collecting bacterial genomes with AMR tag data for many years at PATRIC. " We have updated the PATRIC FTP server to enable access to genomes that are binned by their AMR phenotypes and the identification of genomic regions relating to AMR. We custom designed AdaBoost machine learning classifiers for determining carbapenem resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii, methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus austria, and Streptococcus pneumoniae, with accuracies ranging from 88 percent to 99%.
