Transdermal Estrogen for the Treatment of Bone Loss in Women With Anorexia Nervosa

"Nearly 90% of women with anorexia nervosa have osteopenia, and this low bone mass is correlated with an elevated risk of fractures. " Nearly 70% of women with anorexia nervosa have a history of a fracture, and a prospective analysis revealed a 7-fold greater risk of fracture in women with anorexia nervosa compared to age-matched controls. Hence, finding a treatment for bone damage caused by anorexia nervosa is of utmost importance. This 18-month placebo-controlled trial will determine whether treating with transdermal estrogen replacement will raise bone mineral density in women with anorexia nervosa.

Virtual Reality-Based Attention Bias Modification Training for Anorexia Nervosa (AN-VR-ABM)

Adult and young patients with Anorexia Nervosa have a tendency to concentrate more on self-reported unattractive body parts than other body regions, which is a phenomenon known as attentional bias. " The AB of Dysfunctional body-related AB may be responsible for lowering the success of body exposure-based treatments used in patients with AN. Patients with AN's chronic illness have a tendency to progress, including AB integration techniques within the body exposure therapy as an efficient way to reduce body-related AB, body dissatisfaction, and body stress among patients with AN. In addition to HTC's two controllers that HTC-PRO normally offers, three additional body trackers will be used to enable full body motion tracking. The body's Exposure therapy will begin with a virtual body with the same BMI as the patient. Based on upgrade of the AB induction strategy suggested by Smeets, Jansen, and Roefs, the AB conversion course will be based on an adaption of the AB induction method. The geometric figures will appear on weight-related body parts in 45% of the trials, and in another 45% of the trials, it will focus on non-weight-related body organs. Using the Ogama suite, raw ET raw data will be converted into useful quantitative data. ".

Contra-attitudinal Versus Mindfulness Treatment in Anorexia Nervosa - Randomised Controlled Trial

"Eligible patients will be notified of the follow-up methods, but not the intervention" after verification of the inclusion criteria. " Patients in the CAT and MBCT groups will be notified of the group in which they have been randomized will sign a new consent form and the corresponding intervention will be sent to them. Following a directive aimed at sparking cognitive dissonance through a narrow TCA mindfulness exercise, a pilot group led by trained facilitators focused on particular ED topics through written, verbal, and/or behavioral activities. Control group: normal control based on a strict TCA mindfulness strategy. The inclusion of patients with restricted anorexia nervosa is based on a questionnaire conducted by the HibernAM ancillary study, which shows a serum sample was reviewed for inclusion in patients with restrictive anorexia nervosa. Serum samples from blood samples collected as part of regular health monitoring for matched healthy individuals. Addition of serum from patients with restrictive anorexia nervosa, as well as matched healthy participants, to human myotubes in culture for the study of protein metabolism".

Impact of a Supervised Physical Exercise Program (ESATRAL) in Patients With Anorexia Nervosa After Hospital Discharge

"Experts in eating disorders recommend limiting exercise until the individual is medically fit, of adequate weight, and able to tolerate exercise with adequate energy intake. " In this sense, a reintroduction and promotion of healthy exercise should be carried out in a graded and monitored way, where exercise can bring major benefits, including improving social stability and establishing a healthy lifestyle. The connection between eating disorders and exercise has been tense, but new studies have already established that exercise may be beneficial if used as a tool for healthy living. Exercise in anorexia has generally been viewed as a risky habit that should be limited or entirely prohibited, particularly during the acute phase of the disease, but various researchers have already challenged the restriction-based exercise regimen and investigated its potentially beneficial role in recovery. In addition to significant strength losses and atrophy of type II muscle fibers, these patients' loss of lean tissue can have a direct effect on organ mass and function. Patients with anorexia have a variety of common metabolic and endocrine disorders as a result of persistent hunger that affects lean tissue. In patients with Anorexia nervosa after hospital discharge, the ESATRAL study will investigate the effects of supervised strength training as part of the rehabilitation vs. treatment without supervised strength training.
