ADHD symptoms and use of anabolic androgenic steroids among male weightlifters.

Anabolic androgenic steroids use is often associated with adverse health issues. We wanted to see if AAS use in male weightlifters was associated with ADHD symptoms, as well as the correlation between ADHD symptoms and cognitive function, and measured cognitive ability. Self-reported ADHD symptom scores were noticeably higher among AAS users compared to WLC, and those in the range indicating clinically important ADHD were more prevalent in the AAS-using group. Weightlifters use AAS is linked to ADHD signs and related lower cognitive results. Recognising a correlation between ADHD symptoms and AAS use may help with drug elimination in sports.
