MicroRNA Alterations in Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis are risk factors for the neurodegenerative diseases chronic traumatic encephalopathy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Both ALS and CTE are medical disorders, but in some cases, share pathology, affect common brain regions, and occur together, in some cases. In this way, we wanted to establish correlations between miRNA levels and disease state within the prefrontal cortex of a group of brain donors with CTE, ALS, CTE+ ALS, and controls. Of 47 miRNAs reported in neurological disease and testing here, 28 of 48 miRNAs were significantly different between pathology groups, with 27 miRNAs previously associated with neurological disease and tested here.
