Common Patterns and Diverging Trajectories in Primary Succession of Plants in Eastern Alpine Glacier Forelands

The chronosequences cover the area between the Little Ice Age maximum glacier extent in 1850 and the new glacier terminus. Despite some flaws, chronosequences allow the identification of general patterns of primary succession of plants as a result of plant age and local environmental conditions, e. g. , shifts in species richness, ground cover, plant functional characteristics, and community organization. Both floristically and structurally, the pioneer stage in all glacier forelands is similar, from the early succession stage up to a point of growth, contributing to different phases in the late successional stage, which is mostly shrub dominated throughout, including the introduction of herbu2013grass u2013dwarfshrub, followed by a later shrub phase in the two study sites in between.

GlacierNet2: A hybrid Multi-Model learning architecture for alpine glacier mapping

Climate change has had a major effect on glacier dynamics in recent decades, including supraglacial and proglacial lake development, as well as catastrophic outburst floods. The use of spectral data and traditional machine learning methods is often difficult for determining climate forcing and climate change's sensitivity to climate change, as well as measuring debris-cover glaciers. Experimental results show that GlacierNet2 improves the estimation of the ablation zone and encourages a high degree of intersection over union scores, which is higher than GlacierNet. This is a significant first step toward automating complete glacier mapping, which can be used for accurate glacier modeling or mass-balance analysis.
