Alpha-mannosidosis

Reduced bone mass, thickening of the bones at the top of the skull, deformation of the bones in the spine, knock knees, and bone and joint degeneration are all typical bone defects that can occur in this disorder. Some people with alpha-mannosidosis have psychiatric signs such as depression, anxiety, or hallucinations; episodes of psychiatric disturbance may be triggered by stressors such as having undergone surgery, emotional distress, or changes in routine. Alpha-mannosidosis can be mild to severe, according to the symptoms and signs. Individuals with this early-onset alpha-mannosidosis have a tendency to die before childhood. People with late-onset alpha-mannosidosis may live to their fifties.
