Flexible Al-air batteries are seen as the next generation of portable electronics power supplies due to their high capacity, low cost, and environmental friendliness. Here, we develop a Zn 2+ @Agar hydrogel membrane for a flexible Al-air battery, whose Zn-dominated interphase prevents hydrogen evolution and passivation of the Al anode, as well as improving discharge results. As 0. 5 M Zn 2+ are present in the membrane, the hydrogen evolution rate of Al anode is as low as 1. 65 m Zn 2+ cm -2 s -1, and the passivation layer of Al 2 O 3 is also broken by a Zn-dominated interphase. Using a Zn 2+ hydrogel membrane, the actual mechanism of interaction between single chain agar molecule and anode surface has been figured, which greatly supports the commercial use of flexible Al-air batteries.
