Antenatal tenofovir induced acute kidney injury in a neonate born to seropositive mother- A case report

Abstract Acute kidney injury is a significant risk factor for morbidity and mortality in neonates, according to the author. Neonatal AKI's causes are variable and multifactorial. a newborn with AKI secondary to antenatal tenofovir exposure was diagnosed with HIV four years before pregnancy and was on TLD therapy. Here we present a case of a newborn with AKI secondary to antenatal tenofovir exposure. However, all probable causes of acute kidney injury were ruled out based on history, study, and investigation. Eosinophiluria  and crystalluria pointing to drug-induced AKI were noted in a Urine exam, with eosinophiluria  and crystalluria pointing to drug-induced AKI. The baby was hemodynamically stable and breastfeeding well into childhood, but renal functions continued to deteriorate gradually, with complete resolution by DOL-10.

Factors associated with mortality in a population with acute kidney injury undergoing hemodialysis in Peru

Introduction: Patients with acute kidney disease in developing countries are described in a younger age profile, with less comorbidities, unifactorial, and with a lower mortality rate in comparison to patients in developed countries. In a developing country setting, the aim was to determine mortality in patients with acute kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis and its attendant causes. Results: The results of 72 patients with AKI who underwent HD were analyzed, 66. 7% of them were 64 years old, and 42. 2% were patients with HD. According to a Crude study, those who used vaping devices had higher mortality than those that did not, but those with creatinine values of > 8. 9 mg/ dL had higher mortality than those with vaping statistics. Four out of every ten AKI patients undergoing HD death, including four out of every ten AKI patients.
