Impact of combined low dose norepinephrine and simvastatin on sepsis induced acute Kidney injury in critically ill patients

ABSTRACT Background: Statins' role in sepsis patients with acute kidney injury is still unclear in sepsis patients with acute kidney disease. This research was done to investigate the effects of oral Simvastatin and low dose intravenous norepinephrine as an adjunctive therapy in early acute kidney disease associated with sepsis. They were randomly assigned to two groups; Group A received oral Simvastatin 80 mg/day and low dose intravenous norepinephrine as well as traditional sepsis therapy; Group B received only general sepsis therapy. Conclusions: Simvastatin and low dose norepinephrine did not cause any improvement in patients with sepsis-associated AKI.

The ratio of C-Reactive protein to Prealbumin to predict the mortality in patients with acute kidney injury

Background: Acute kidney disease has been attributed to an elevated mortality in hospital patients. Serum C reactive protein is an acute-phase protein that has been markedly elevated within hours after infection or inflammation. According to the department of Critical Care Units, 50 adult patients with the diagnosis of AKI were admitted to the Critical Care Units, according to AKIN criteria for stage 3 patients. The 50 Healthy Adult volunteers with no history of kidney disease were among the 50 control group members who had no family history of kidney disease. Conclusion: AKI patients with higher serum CRP/prealbumin ratios may be strongly correlated with increased mortality.

The Relationship between Multimorbidity and Quality of Life on Acute Myocardial Infaction Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Haji Adam Malik Hospital Medan

Acute Myocardial Infarction is one of the Acute Coronary Syndrome spectrum with a high mortality rate. Patients with AMI are often associated with comorbid factors that raise the risk and influence the prognosis, which necessitates intervention. The quality of life can be measured using a EuroQoL questionnaire based on the EQ-5D scale, which was found to be helpful in determining post intervention and comorbidities management plans. Method: This is a retrospective analysis of AMI patients who underwent Percutaneous Coronary Intervention at the HAM Hospital. The results: In this article, there were 80 patients with Good Quality of Life and 50 patients with Poor Quality of Life. Conclusion: Comorbidities have a positive relationship with quality of life, and multicomorbidity can predict reduced quality of life in AMI patients after percutaneous coronary intervention.

Factors affecting treatment outcome in patients with Acute Mesenteric Ischemia

Background: Acute mesenteric ischemia is a disorder that can be attributed to a lack of blood supply through the mesenteric vessels, resulting in ischemia and eventual gangrene of the bowel wall. Methods: The Alexandria Main University Hospital's AMI epidemic in adult patients admitted to AMI from January 2014 to January 2015. At admission, the mortality rate increased in the age of 50 years with a history of cardiovascular disease or renal disease, as well as systolic blood pressure less than 90 mmHg on admission. The most common findings in patients with AMI are abdominal tenderness.

Role of Hypertonic Saline Nebulization Therapy in Patients with Early Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

ABSTRACT Acute respiratory syndrome is a life-threatening illness with high mortality rates. According to Berlin's definition, this study included 60 patients according to sample size at the Alexandria Main University Hospital's Department of Critical Care Medicine, which meets ARDS criteria. In a hypertonic saline group rather than a control group, the hypoxic index, LIS, and SOFA score were all significantly higher than the control group. With statistically significant difference, intensive care unit stay and mechanical ventilation days were reduced in the hypertonic saline group. With a trend to reduce mortality, ICU stay, and mechanical ventilation days, in addition, protective lung protection may be added to a patient with early ARDs.
