Conclusion The study found that a single HMW-HA injection is as effective as multiple injections of LMW-HA patients in times of 2 and 6 months follow-up. This research protocol was listed in an Iranian database of RCTs with the trial registration number IRCT2013051313442N24 and registration date 2018-07-13.

Rats in the sham group underwent laminectomy and discectomy and received no treatment; rats in the control group underwent laminectomy and discectomy; rats in the HA group underwent laminectomy and discectomy; and rats in the HA gel group underwent laminectomy and discectomy in lieu of receiving HA therapy in the surgical area; rats in the simulated group underwent laminectomy and discectomy; rats in the simulated group underwent laminectomy and discectomy RESULTS compared to the sham and control groups, the HA and HA gel groups had significant reduced fibroblast cell density and tissue hydroxyproline concentrations, as compared to the sham and control groups. In comparison to the sham group, granulation tissue and epidural fibrosis were significantly reduced in the HA and HA gel groups.
