In the methanol thiolation reaction with Alkali/W/Al_3 catalysts, an acid gas stream was used instead of pure H_2S as feedstock. The catalytic experiments were carried out in a fixed-bed flow reactor for an acid gas with a percentage of 12. 2%mol. Due to the presence of catalysts in hydrocarbon reforming reactions, H_2S conversion in the acid gas feed was lower in the acid gas feed than in pure H_2S feed. About 92 percent, the H_2S in acid gas was converted to acid gas. According to organosulfur products, yields ranged between 87. 3% and 5. 5% for dimethyl sulfide and methanethiol.

As gas phase glycine was discovered in a cometary coma, our findings may provide insight into gas phase asymmetric photochemical reactions in the life cycle of interstellar gas and dust, which is at the source of life's enantiomeric determination of life's l -amino acids. Due to the low vapor pressure of these molecules, chirroptical properties of amino acids are difficult to investigate in the gas phase. Here the researchers succeed in measuring circular dichroism active transitions and anisotropies in the ultraviolet range for several gas-phase amino acids, providing insight into the interactions between molecules and circularly polarized light that result in chiral symmetry breaking.
