The Cincinnati incision is safe and effective for revision surgery for insertional tendinopathy of the Achilles tendon

In a cohort of patients in a 24-month follow-up, the present research details the results of revision surgery using a Cincinnati incision with tendon debridement and calcaneoplasty forinsertional Achilles tendinopathy. Patients undergoing revision surgery after unsuccessful previous surgery for IAT were prospectively recruited. The report of 33 patients with a mean age of 43. 9 years old has been published. These findings revealed that a Cincinnati incision followed by tendon debridement and calcaneoplasty for revision surgery for IAT is safe and effective, resulting in clinically valid improvement in the VISA-A, EQ5D, and VAS at 24 months follow-up.

Ultrasonography Features of the Plantar Fascia Complex in Patients with Chronic Non-Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy: A Case-Control Study

Purpose: The aim of the current study was to determine by ultrasound imaging the thickness of the plantar fascia at the time of the insertion of the calcaneus, mid and forefoot fascial tissues, and the calcaneal fat pad in patients with Achilles tendinopathy. CFP and PF at the calcaneus thickness revealed statistically significant differences with a decrease in the tendinopathy group in comparison to the control group. Conclusion: In patients with AT measured by USI, the PF at the insertion and the CPF is reduced.
