Evaluation of sealing efficacy and removal convenience of sealing materials for implant abutment screw access holes

Background Sealing products are used to line abutment screw access holes in order to prevent microleakage and protect the central screws in oral implant reconstruction. A comparison of the sealing performance and removal of different sealing materials for cement-retained implant restoration was conducted in this research. Results On days 1 and 10, PTFE exhibited the highest absorbance value with significant differences compared to other groups, with significant differences between the two groups. TRP and PTFE had significantly higher absorbance values than GP, VPS, and OR on day 30, but no significant difference was found between TRP and PTFE. VPS and OR demonstrated greater sealing performance against microleakage and a faster removal method than other materials in this study, so VPS and OR are recommended for clinical use within the limitations of this research; therefore, VPS and OR showed improved sealing performance against microleakage and a more effective removal than other materials; therefore, VPS and OR are recommended for clinical use.
