In the presence of charge density waves in two-dimensional crystals of 2H-TaSe 2, the effects of dimensional reduction and ion intercalation on superconductivity were investigated. The temperature dependence of the upper critical field was found to be anomalous here. We recommend that dimensional reduction and ion intercalation can be more cost-effective ways to develop material properties for layered transition metal chalcogenides.
