This research focuses on in-situ observations of atmospheric aerosols and their effects on shortwave direct aerosol radiative forcing in Southern India during the southwest monsoon season from 2015 to 2020, over a semi-arid station. A high ventilation coefficient and low percentage of BC were found in July and September, respectively, low VC and high concentrations of BC were present in both the drought and the normal monsoon years, but low VC was present in September, which highlighted a high incidence of BC. In addition, a plane-parallel radiative transfer model was used to calculate shortwave direct aerosol radiative forcing at composite and without BC at several levels, including the surface, atmosphere, and top of the atmosphere. The estimated BC flood in the driest monsoon years was much higher than that of normal monsoon years.
