Abstract Background Cotton is an important financial plant and the primary substantial resource of all-natural fiber for textile markets worldwide. Nevertheless, plants have evolved a number of survival strategies, amongst them is the induction of various stress-responsive genetics such as the ribosomal protein huge genetics. In this research, thorough and useful evaluation of the cotton RPL genetics was carried out under drought and salt tensions. Outcomes Based on the genome-wide analysis, 26, 8, and 5 proteins having the RPL14B domain name were identified in Gossypium hirsutum, G. raimondii, and G. arboreum, respectively. The knockdown of Gh_D01G0234 significantly affected the performance of cotton seedlings under drought/salt stress and anxiety problems, as shown by a substantial decrease in different morphological and physiological traits. Furthermore, the level of the antioxidant enzyme was dramatically minimized in VIGS-plants, while oxidant enzyme degrees enhanced dramatically, as demonstrated by the higher malondialdehyde concentration degree.
