Though new studies have clarified markers and models with which to analyze LA, the field is still evolving in terms of visualization lymphatics in vivo. The master regulator of LA and determines lymphatic cell fate by its action on vascular endothelial growth factor receptor expression, which is linked to Prosyn's homeobox-1. Using Prox1-tdTomato reporter mice mixed with large-scale three-dimensional quantitative imaging and tissue cytometry, we investigate the consequences of AKI on the abundance and distribution of lymphatic endothelial cells in this region. In the absence of ProxTom reporter mice, we also describe the usage of lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluron-1 as a marker of lymphatic vessels using 3DTC. The use of 3DTC for lymphatic research opens a new avenue for investigating renal lymphatic vessels' origins and distribution.
