The quantification of plaque based on a plaque index has already been highly successful for 3D-intraoral-scans. Images from 3D-intraoral-scans are also useful for validating planimetric plaque measurements and monitoring, according to this report; intraoral-camera photographs served as a reference. Images of the 3D-intraoral-scan and the intraoral-camera showed a good correlation, with no proportional and a slight systematic bias, as shown by the Bland-Altmann analysis, which gave a good fit with no proportional and a marginal systematic bias with slightly higher values from 3D-intraoral-scan images. P% rises in plaque levels were found from T1 to T2 and a 43 percent decrease after toothbrushing, according to P% results of the 3D-intraoral-scan's photographs. A Fast Point Clouds Registration Algorithm Based on ISS-USC Feature for the 3D Laser Scanner

The point clouds registration is a significant step in data processing for the 3D laser scanner to obtain complete details of the object surface, and there are various algorithms. A fast point clouds registration algorithm based on the latest voxel filter and ISS-USC functionality is suggested in order to overcome the disadvantages of slow calculation speed and poor accuracy of current point cloud registration methods. Secondly, the inherent shape signature feature point detection algorithm is used to add feature points from the down-sampled point cloud records, and then the extracted feature points are used to define the extracted feature points. Eventually, the iterative nearest point algorithm based on the KD tree is used for fine registration, which allows the conversion from the point clouds scanned by the 3D laser scanner at various angles to the same coordinate system.

Automatic segmentation of the thalamus using a massively trained 3D convolutional neural network: higher sensitivity for the detection of reduced thalamus volume by improved inter-scanner stability

With 127 multiple sclerosis patients and a standard database of 4872 T1w volumes from 160 scanners, the sensitivity of 3D-CNN-based volume estimates for the detection of thalamus atrophy was tested. Conclusions The automatic thalamus segmentation by Dice similarity coefficient with manual expert delineation was similar for both tested methods. With 3D-CNN for repeat scans on the same MRI scanner and for repeat scans on different scanners, the single healthy subject's thalamus volume estimates came closest with 3D-CNN for repeat scans. For 3D-CNN, the number of MS patients with significantly reduced thalamus volume was the highest for 3D-CNN. u2022 The inter-scanner variability of thalamus volume estimates across different MRI scanners was reduced by more than half, resulting in increased sensitivity for the detection of thalamus atrophy.

Precise measurement for 3D laser scanner with large range

Measurement precision for a laser scanner is dependent on its calibration results, i. e. The light plane's mathematical expression in camera coordinate system is used to determine the photographic representation of the light plane in the camera coordinate system. We provide a precise measurement system and the corresponding calibration procedure for a laser scanner with a wide measurement range in this paper. When a photograph of light stripe is taken, we can get a consistent measurement result from the normalized feature points. According to our tested procedure, the root mean square error of measurement results is reduced by 64. 7 percent relative to the conventional method. Experiments show that according to our proposed procedure, the root mean square error of measurement results has been reduced by 66. 7 percent relative to the conventional method.

Comparative Analysis on the Effect of Surface Reflectance for Laser 3D Scanner Calibrator

The calibrator is one of the most important variables in the calibration of various laser 3D scanning systems. To test the laser 3D scanner, the black ceramic standard sphere, white ceramic standard sphere, metal standard sphere, metal standard plane, and white ceramic standard plane were used. The RMS of the white ceramic spherical calibrator with a reflectance of approximately 60% is ten times higher than that of the metal spherical calibrator with the reflectance of about 15%, and the RMS of the black ceramic spherical calibrator with reflectance of about 11% is in the same order as the metal spherical calibrator's. The RMS of the flatness measurement results shows 0. 77 mm for the metal plane calibrationator with a reflectance of 15% and 2. 915 mm for ceramic plane calibrator with a reflectance of 60%.
