Randomized Trial of Laparoscopic Nissen Versus Anterior 180 Degree Partial Fundoplication - Late Clinical Outcomes at 15 to 20 years.

Objects Objective: Objectives : Objectives: Objectives : Objectives: At least 20 years following up from a random controlled trial of Nissen versus anterior 180-degree partial fundoplication from a randomized controlled trial of Nissen versus anterior 180-degree partial fundoplication, a goal to determine very late clinical findings. Overview of the data Nissen Fundoplication for gastroesophageal reflux can be followed by troubling side effects. Previous reports from a randomized controlled trial of Nissen versus anterior 180-degree partial fundoplication in up to ten years followed promising results for both procedures. Methods One hundred seven participants were randomized to Nissen versus anterior 180-degree partial fundoplication, according to the Nissen versus anterior 180-degree partial fundoplication. The results were encouraging after anterior fundoplication heartburn and proton pump inhibitor use, offset by less dysphagia for solids and better ability to belch. Following Nissen fundoplication, six participants underwent revision after anterior fundoplication, and seven underwent revision. Conclusions: After Nissen fundoplication, a 15 to 20-year successor to Nissen and an anterior 180-degree partial fundoplication's success achieved similar success, but with trade-offs between better reflux control and more side-effects.
