Microbiota profiling with NGS technologies is widespread with 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing. However, no new study has been done examining the results of various 16S rRNA hypervariable regions for male urinary microbiota profiling. According to V1V2 hypervariable regions' results, more suitable for male urinary microbiota profiling is more appropriate for male urinary microbiota analysis.

Successful identification of Granulicatella adiacens in postoperative acute infectious endophthalmitis using a bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA gene-sequencing platform with MinION™: A case report.

Purpose: Using 16S ribosomal RNA gene analysis with a nanopore sequencer, it is possible to determine the effectiveness of identifying the bacteria by aqueous sampling and vitreous sampling in postoperative infectious endophthalmitis using a Viteous sampling and vitreous sampling. Observation By a 55-year-old woman who underwent cataract surgery at an eyelid surgery clinic 18 days ago was referred to our hospital for possible endophthalmitis. We performed a vitrectomy, intraocular lens extraction, and silicone oil tamponade based on the diagnosis of postoperative acute infectious endophthalmitis. The inflammation was minimal on postoperative day 14 and was gone. Conclusions and importance In the aqueous humor, Granulicatella adiacens and Cutibacterium acnes had been identified prior to the surgery, but only Granulicatella adiacens was found in the vitreous sample after the procedure. Although the aqueous humor sample could contain commensal bacteria, it could produce a predictable result before the operation.
